MY STORY

I am Alissa the Aquarius. I am passionate about EVERYTHING I do! I LOVE bringing happiness & joy to the lives of others. A Saturday afternoon craft project about 12 years ago sparked my inner Artist to emerge. Over time the ideas grew & became more complex & dynamic.

After being laid off, I decided now was the perfect time to get serious & make a business of my hobby. “Sweet Art Candy - It’s Art You Can Eat!” was born. I knew early on that I wanted to be like no other and create art that has never been seen before. I didn't want to be like the traditional candy bouquets or baskets that are so popular now. I take pride in being different. Sweet Art Candy reflects that. "What exactly is it?" you ask. I take off the shelf, store bought bags of individually wrapped candy and design them into works of art. Creating everything from 3D animals, characters, clothes, sunglasses, flowers, sports balls, wine/cheese trays... The list goes on & on. Just about anything you can imagine, I can turn into "candy art". After you finish admiring the beauty of the art, you can pull the pieces of candy off and eat them!

However, after a terrible accident rolling skating, I sustained severely disabling injuries (I lost 85% usage of my right wrist/hand & developed a nerve condition known as RSD), I thought Sweet Art Candy was a wrap (pun intended). Faith, shear determination, perseverance & dedication have kept me going. I won’t lie, it’s hard & very painful. But quitting is NOT an option. So I press on and continue to add chapters to this story. The latest chapter is the opening of the Sweet Art Candy storefront located in Grandview, MO. It has been a challenge and hard work. But it’s a start.
